The recent studies have found obesity as the most consequential health issue in Australia with 67% of Australian men and 52% of Australian women aged 25 years have been estimated to having obesity (NSW Department of Health, 2010). In Australia, obesity has crossed the epidemic proportions while this rate is also observed globally.  The literature review conducted aims to establish understanding with the obesity disease.  Different dimensions related to obesity disease are identified in the literature review that associates with the abnormal eating habit and less physical activity by either an individual or whole community.  Despite the fact that comparative to past today there are more opportunities for weight loss such as weight loss program and change eating habit program management, the rate of obesity is constantly increasing. World Health Organization reports that globally 1 billion adults have been identified with obesity and 300 million have been classified as being clinically obese (Cobiac, 2008). Being clinically obese means that individual is at risk of having serious chronic health problems including coronary heart disease, type 2 diabetes, gall bladder disease, ischemic stroke, osteoporosis, sleep apnoea, and cancers. Besides its effects on clinical health condition it also has severe psychosocial consequences. The severe consequences of obesity have made this issue essential to be addressed as increasing obesity is continuous burden of the chronic disease. There is plenty of literature about the cusses of obesity and its main causes are associated with genetic receptiveness influenced by environmental and psychological factors (Edwards, 2008).

1.1 Objectives or Indicators of the Health Promotion Proposal

As per to requirement, there are one specific and three specific, measureable and realistic objectives of this health promotion proposal and are as follows:

1.4 Timeline for the Project

The timeline for this proposal is remarkably significant because the success of the program underlies in achieving the objectives within the timeline. There is a timeline determined for each process of the project and these objectives are set within timeline are measureable, and realistic. This health promotion program aims to achieve its objectives by the end of the program and timeline of the program is determined as six months. 

 

1.5 Money and Other Resources Required Implementing the Program

In order to implement a health promotion program, there is need of resources and money. For this program resources required include both above-the-line cost items for which project-specific funds must be found, as well as use of staff time, equipment, and space. There are other resources required such as expertise contributions from volunteers and partners. 

1.6 Outcomes of the Program

The outcomes of the program are to develop personal skills in the target population, create supportive environments for the people who needs help for disease, build healthy public policy and reorient health services regarding the obesity disease.
